My first real day of leave :)

leave a comment »

I took my first real day of leave yesterday! I say “real” because it was the first time I took leave for leisure purposes hehe. :P Andddd I had the entireeee day off as well!!! :)

But I ended up spending the day running errands instead. :( I collected my passport, attempted to make a new pair of spectacles (but failed because I couldn’t find a frame that I liked), sent Chris for tuition, went to Ikea to sort out a birthday present, went to school and got to have lunch with Joshua and met Titus for a little while. :) It also happened to be the Parent Teachers’ Meeting that day, so walking around school with Titus made me feel like I was his mom hahaha.

But the highlight of my day, as with every other time this happens, was meeting Tantan. :) I was actually really grumpy before I met him cause I felt like my first off-day was going all wrong and I got caught in multiple jams and had trouble finding parking everwhereeee but he turned my horrid day around. :)

We went to the foodcourt at Adam Road for dinner and I had the shock of my life when I saw some hand suddenly appear in front of my face! But it turned out to be Zinan!!!! :D The poor boy was having dinner all by himself and he was feeling a little sad, and I wanted to join him for dinner but didn’t bring it up cause I wasn’t sure if Tantan would be okay with having dinner with a stranger. But Tantan stopped me as we moved off and he asked if I wanted to have dinner with Zinan, to which I replied “no, it’s alright” but he insisted cause he said that Zinan looked pretty sad and lonely, and so we did have dinner with him!!! :) I was so, so touched okay! I was reminded of why I love my dearest best friend all over again. :) He’s the sweetest and kindest person ever. :) Haha ok lah, it doesn’t sound like much when I type it out like this, but really, I have never met a nicer person than Tantan. :)

And after dinner, we went back to my place and we watched The Vow! I’ve been wanting to watch it with Tantan for a really long time (because I once had a dream that Tantan got into a major accident and he lost his memory and forgot all about me, which is basically what the movie is about) but we never had the opportunity to do so. So we watched it last night!! And throughout the entire movie, Tantan kept making cynical comments and that heartless boy (which is ironic cause I just called him compassionate in the paragraph above) kept saying “it’s just a movie” whenever I cried omg. Hahaha. Punch him. But I really appreciate him watching it with me and staying awake for the entire movie despite the fact that it’s not his kind of show at all. :)

I really do have the bestest best friend ever. :)

I really like this photo :) Hahaha

Dessert with Zinan last week! (Note that this wasn’t the same day as yesterday when I bumped into him at Adam Road!)

My attempt to convince Chris to go to ACS by bribing him with the famous ACS roti prata :)

Andddd these are apparently my “cutest” OGlings hahaha

Forever young

I had a lovely week of almost-no-tuition lessons! I only had one lesson on Tuesday, so I had time to catch up with long-lost friends (i.e. my lovely girlies from 6.7!), make new friends (who shall remain unnamed for now, hehehe. :P ), losing certain friends, and of course, hanging out with current friends. :)

I met my dearest 6.7 girls for dinner on Wednesday!! I was actually really surprised that Momo let me go cause I’m technically still grounded. ._. But she likes my classmates so… :)

We had dinner at Ion’s Fish and Co and it was just like old times!! Hahaha I know I say this every single time I blog about my dearest classmates but really, I cannot get over the fact that we can go for long periods of time without seeing each other but we always fall back into the same comfortable, excited chatter that we’re all so used to so easily. :) I was really worried about losing all of them when I go to London in September, but I think we’ll be fine. And Steph will be going to London with me too! Thank God for company whoohoo! :)

We also sat at Wisma’s Starbucks and talked about work, which made me realise that we’re all growing up and moving on with our lives so quickly. We’ve become one of those old ladies who meet up with their old schoolmates over coffee to talk about their families and careers omg. :( We’re all so old! :( And my tuition students never fail to remind me of my great age either. :( Hahaha

And I had dinner with dearest Tantan last night!! :) We finallyyyyy at at Pepperoni’s!! After months and months of making plans to go there but never actually doing it! :) Whoohoooo! And may I just add that Tantan takes incredibly incrediblyyyy long to eat? I finished my entire pizza before he was even barely halfway through! What a noob. :P

We also went to KAP to grab some dessert and to visit the place (and revisit memories) before it gets torn down, but we were too full to eat hahaha. We just saw outdoors and played Tap Tap (which I totally owned him in btw), took silly photos and hacked each other’s Facebook accounts. :)

Even though we don’t do something super incredibly exciting every time we go out (like going to USS or a play or etc.), I love spending time with my best friend. :) I love him very, very much.

More photos beneath the cut! (All photos from the 6.7 dinner)

Our God is an awesome God

I thought I’d just share a miracle that has happened in my life this past week. :)

A couple of days ago, someone very important to me fell down in the toilet and injured his hip really badly. I don’t want to mention names here, but let’s just call him Tinky for simplicity’s sake. :) He didn’t realise how serious his fall was and put off seeing the doctor for several days till the pain became too unbearable. The doctor told him that he had fractured his hip and he had to go for emergency surgery or risk getting a heart attack, which could be bad enough to be fatal. I’m not sure how the hip relates to the heart, but yeah, that’s what the doctor said. And it wasn’t a simple surgery. There were many risks involved and he had to carefully weigh his options.

I prayed and prayed and prayed for him to be okay.

Miracle #1. I visited him in hospital the next day and I found out that Tinky went for an MRI and he might not have to do the surgery! He was so happy!! :) And he found out later that day that he definitely did not have to do the surgery even though it was highly recommended that he did. :) Praise God. :)

Miracle #2. Tinky called me the next day and told me that the doctors said that his hip might not even be fractured. It was a mere dislocation. :)

Miracle #3. The dislocated joint went back into the socket (or whatever bio-ey terms lah! I don’t know how to use the right terminology.) on its own! Without the doctors having to do anything!!!! It just miraculously found its way back into the socket. :) But Tinky still couldn’t be discharged yet. He was still in a lot of pain.

Miracle #4. Tinky got discharged today. :) Just 6 days after he got admitted into hospital. :) 6 days ago, we were all so worried about his surgery. And now, Tinky is back home. :) No doubt, he’s in a lot of pain, but he’s gonna be okay. :)

Isn’t my God incredibly awesome? ;) It was more than I could even hope for. When I prayed, I was hoping for God to get him through the surgery safely and for him to have a good and proper recovery. Instead, God healed him completely, without even the need for the surgery. :) Praise God indeed. :)

Picnicology 101

leave a comment »

So quite a few things have happened since I last updated!! :D

I’ve been very busy with tuition lately cause it’s the mid year exam period and I’ve been doubling lessons every week. I actually had 3-hour lessons with this same girl four times this week because I’m teaching her quite a few subjects. My whole schedule is a mess as well as I’m trying to accommodate everyone’s exam schedules and it is driving me crazy!!!! But I do enjoy teaching and I’m really glad to have this opportunity before uni begins. :)

Firstly, I WATCHED AVENGERS WITH AMANDAAAA!! Hahaha okay it wasn’t thattttt great. It was good, but it wasn’t fantastic in my opinion. I preferred X-Men First Class, yay. :D

But the awesome part was getting to spend time with Manda again!! I find it quite epic that we actually watched Avengers together. After watching Captain America together last year, we made plans to watch Avengers together. And to be honest, I didn’t really think we actually would considering that school’s now over and we don’t really see each other very much anymore. :( BUT WE KEPT TO OUR PACT!!!! Aren’t we super duper awesome? ;) Hahahaha

This is Manda and the super cute Captain America tshirt she bought for me omg!!! IT IS SO ADORABLE HAHA. Love her so muchhhhh yayyy!!! ^^

And on Friday, I went to MBS with Moonie (Sean) and Shreya (Sunshine) hahahaha. I find it v cool that we all have nicknames to do with the sky. I’m Twinkles! (Because of my email, I think. Hahaha.) And I ate Popeye’s for the first time. ;) It’s actually quite nice! :)

We’re all going to Krabi in July too! By “all”, I mean Richard, Sean, Edward, Shreya and me!!!! I am sooooo incredibly excited! We’re renting a villa with a private pool yayyyyyy!!!!

Andddd finally, yesterday, we had a PwC picnic!!!!!!!!! And I had lots and lots of fun! I got 2 disposable table cloths that had a red and white checked pattern to use as a picnic mat and it really looked like a picnic mat! It was so cool!!!!! And Junyn was busy laying it out and putting stuff around the edges to hold the corners down, so Edward said that she had a PhD in picnicology hahaha.

Junyu and I also set the time at 5.45 instead of 6pm because we knew that people were gonna be late, but ironically, Junyu and I were on time (at 5.45, not 6 okay!) but the people who were expected to be late came even later. ._. Tey Siang and Yong Le actually went to the Botanic Gardens MRT station, which was so darn far away because we were at the Tanglin entrance side!!

But anyway, we had pizza and we played Monopoly Deal and Taboo! It was very dark because the street lamps were nooby and didn’t provide enough lighting to see the cards, so we had to use the iPhone flashlight and kept passing it around so that people could use it hahaha.

I was very sad because everyone kept attacking me in Monopoly Deal. :( Shreya stole my life savings while Edward stole my only full set (which was also all I had. :( ) But Junyu won in the end, yay! :) And Taboo was so funny, especially when it was Edward’s turn cause he kept making funny noises, like some whirring sound when he was trying to describe “vacuum cleaner” hahaha.

I had a very lovely time with my dearest PwC colleagues last night. :) I think meeting and working them are one of the best parts of my before-uni-holiday. :)

This was taken today to celebrate our 3rd monthaversary of working together at PwC! :) Our monthaversary was actually yesterday (6 May), but Qi En wasn’t at the picnic so we didn’t take a picture together then. :(

And here’s a family photo with everyone present!!! It’s so rare cause Ross and Laura are always at different parts of the world while Aunty Marianne and Uncle Mark are always in UK hahaha. I think it’ll be one of the last times that we’ll all be gathered together for  a while, especially since I’ll be heading to the UK soon.

And I love Tony Stark hahahaha. But I still love my dearest Steve Rogers the most. :) Yayyyyy for Captain America!!! :)

Road/route march

leave a comment »

I had lunch with Tantan at EWF today! And I was telling him about the time the PWC colleagues & I saw the recruits’ route march at ECP.

Me: But why do you need to walk 24 click? What’s the point of it?
Tantan: To prepare you for war
Me: How does walking prepare you for war?
Tantan: How do you think soldiers get to war?
Me: You walk to the battle ground?!?!
Tantan: Errrr if not then what?
Me: But how do you fight if you’re tired!
Tantan: That’s why you train!
Me: isn’t there some other way?
Tantan: Like?
Me: Take bus?

HAHAHA I don’t know why but I never thought that soldiers in a war have to walk there!!!! I always thought there’d be vehicles and stuff!

But now that I think about it, all the orcs and uruk hai in LOTR walked to Helms Deep and Minas Tirith (was it Minas Tirith? I can’t remember. ) so I guess it makes sense that soldiers would walk to their battle ground.

I also thought that “route march” was spelt as “road march” and he kept making fun of me for thinking that there are roads in a forest and how the enemies would know where to ambush them right away since they’d go to the roads first ._. he’s so mean right!

But I had a lovely lunch with my best friend, as always. ;) Will miss him so much when he goes to Taiwan next week. :’(

I am currently incredibly exhausted. I practically begged my student to have a 2 hour lesson instead 2.5 hours because I was so darn tired. And I got home and immediately konked out for a good 4 hours. Anddddd I am still really tired. :( I think I really need to stop sleeping for 2-3 hours on work nights. But if you think about it, every night is essentially a work night since I have tuition in the early morning on weekends anyway. :(

I finally got to go for service at FCBC last week! :) I hadn’t gone for about a month or so, so it was really good being back there to worship God and to learn more about Him in an environment that I truly feel comfortable and at home in. :) Last week’s sermon was about how God is present even in the storm and how everything will eventually work out. It was a lovely and thought-provoking sermon.

I also had lunch + ice cream with Sinyi and Pammy after service! :) I missed them so much cause I hadn’t really seen them recently. I don’t even get to see Sinyi very often anymore since I haven’t been having lunch in the CBD on Tuesdays for the past few weeks, and Tuesdays are Lunch With Sinyi days hahaha. :)

There was a PWC party at Butter Factory on Friday! All of us temps were supposed to go together, but people kept dropping out and eventually, it was just Sean, Junyu, Shreya and me (or is it I?) left. So we held an impromptu “meeting” at the cool sofa chairs on the new Level 7 cafe (which is now officially cooler than the KPMG lounge k hahahaha. We have foosball tables and iPads etc.! Hohoho.) and Sean decided to meet his friends while the other 3 of us went to Marina Barrage for another impromptu picnic dinner and to see the sunset, which was gorgeous btw. :) We then headed to the PWC party after that, where we stood around awkwardly hahaha. Several of my managers actually asked if I was of legal age, to which I responded by asking them the same question hahaha. But btw, the answer is yes, I am actually of legal age okay! I’m 18 yay. :)

Alright I’m too tired to really talk anymore, so I shall upload photos yay. :)

Fats: Mom, what’s a noun for “hypnotise”?
Momo: Jie, what’s a noun for “hypnotise”?
Me: What’s a noun???
Fats: …
Momo: A thing.
Me: Hypnotic…?
Momo: That’s an adjective. ._.
Fats: I don’t think it’s an adjective.
Me: What’s an adjective?

Hahahaha oh dear, I think I’ve really lost all my primary school knowledge. :(

Anyway, we finally had our PWC BBQ yesterday!!!!! ^^ I was actually grounded earlier this week cause my room was apparently too messy (hahahahahaha. Okay fine, it really was quite bad. You literally couldn’t see a square inch of my table top because it was so covered with books/paper/make up/nail polish etc.), so I was really worried that I wouldn’t be able to go. :( But I stayed up till 5am on Wednesday night to clear my room, so Momo let me go in the end. :) Yay!!

I met Shreya at Bedok to do some BBQ shopping at Sheng Siong, and that crazy place was a freaking zoo and it was so darn wet. ._. And I fell into the drain earlier on in the day, so my right calf and my butt were hurting like crazy, so it was really difficult to manoeuvre the trolley. :( But yayyy Shreya and I were super efficient and cost-savvy. ^^ We spent a lot less than we expected. :)

And when we got to the carpark and were dying with the insanely heavy bags, we started cursing the stupid boys for making us poor girls carry all the food/drinks, and just as I said “omg those boys are so ungentlemanly and annoying”, Tey Siang and Yong Le suddenly popped out of nowhere and carried everything for us hehehe. ^^

I think the BBQ went fairly well. :) I actually cooked, for once. :) But Shreya and I bought too much food and we had sooooo much leftover. Yong Le and I had to walk a gazillion miles just to buy ice and I felt like dying by the time we got back. We also played with sparklers!! Junyu went super crazy over them and started jumping and dancing with them hahahaha. It was super cute and really very fun. :) I felt like a little kid again. And it was really good seeing Junyu again. :) She will be returning to work next week!! Yay :D I missed her so much. :)

I really love my fellow PWC temps. :) They’re all so lovely and friendly. :) I’ll miss them all so much when I leave. :( We have less than two months left!! And everyone but Qi En, Shreya, Junyu and I will be leaving at the end of April. :( Sad. :(

More photos beneath the cut. :)

Happy party

leave a comment »

I had a pretty interesting weekend! It was a nice end to a very tiring and emotional week. :)

I went to Clarke Quay with Edward on Friday! It was supposed to be his farewell dinner with the other PWC colleagues since he was leaving PWC, but so many of them couldn’t make it that we decided to just go on our own.

I’ve been to Clarke Quay in the day before, but it was my first time going there at night and it’s really quite a different experience! I didn’t go into any bars or clubs, but it was interesting nevertheless to see the themes/designs of various clubs. We walked past some China-themed club and there were two people standing in the balcony, dressed in some traditional Chinese costume and waving their hands and fans at the people below hahaha. It was really pretty cool. :)

Met Cheammerz on Saturday morning for breakfast and to catch up!! It was good talking through several things with her and getting her opinion on things. :) This morning, I made a very important but sad decision (which probably contributed to my emo nemo mood this morning) and told her about it briefly. And she replied me with this: “Don’t be sad dear. Because you know that you’re doing the right thing :) And I don’t know how to put it, but you’ll get over it one day, and I’ll be here for you whenever you need me before that day. :) ” Omg, so damn sweet right! Shucks, I felt like crying when I read that cause I felt so loved and appreciated. Thank you so much for your support, Cheammerz. You don’t know how much it means to me. :’)

As we were taking this photo, I told her to do a funny face and we both instinctively and immediately did this face hahaha. It has become our trademark already. Lyd said that we should make a collage of all our silly pictures, then we realised that the collage would just be full of this face hahaha. I actually went to look through our photos together and made this collage:

Heehee, we’re so cute right? :D Some of the photos are rly gross cause they were taken in sec 3/sec 4, so we look really young and strange hahaha. But IT IS SO CUTE! Yay ^^

Joel accompanied me while doing some grocery shopping for a BBQ on Saturday afternoon! :) And thank God he came with me cause I had absolutely no idea how to buy food. He helped me choose the chicken wings, get the garlic, etc. I was so hopeless hahaha. :P And I realised that I always go BBQ-shopping with him!! ^^

The churchies and I finally had our party of happiness/joy on Saturday evening!! :) We’ve (as in Pammy, Sinyi and I) been planning this party for a month and we were so happy that it finally happened! And so many people turned up!! ^^ Pammy brought her friend, Wilgene, and Weng Yew brought his friend, Kenneth.

Pammy and I swam a little before joining the noobs (i.e. Tantan, Yellow, Jie Han etc.) at the tennis courts. I attempted to play tennis in my swimming costume, a towel and slippers hahaha. I was very terrible at it. :( But it was really fun anyway. ^^ I had a really great time with all of them that night. I miss them so much! It feels like it’s been forever since I last saw them. Except for Sinyi, obviously, since I see her every Tuesday for lunch at the CBD hahaha.

Andddd finally, I met Edward yesterday for ice cream at Island Creamery since we were supposed to write a “Geog EE” on its demographics or whatever hahaha. He’s seriously so full of nonsense. But of course, you can only eat ice cream for so long, so we drove to school to revisit some old memories. It was good being back in school again. :) Happy. :)

I also treated Por Por, Kong Kong & Ah Yee’s family to dinner last night!! It was so cool. ^^ They all came over and we had a pizza + spaghetti partyyyyyy! I missed dearest David so much! :) Yay I love my cousin.

More photos beneath the cut :)

Test of faith

with 2 comments

My one and only plan to life has kind of backfired on me and I’m now incredibly lost. I don’t know what to do next or how to move ahead. I don’t know which choices to make and how they’ll impact me.

I’m devastated and confused, but I will trust in the Lord and lean not on my own understanding. I will have faith.

God, show me what to do next, cause I really have no clue.

[Edit]

Just after I wrote this post, I went to Twitter and saw these tweets by Joyce Meyer. :) I feel slightly comforted and a little more hopeful for the future. :)
